IELTS Preparation

IELTS is an English proficiency test used by universities, professional bodies and other organisations. It comes in two main versions: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Academic is commonly used for higher education and professional registration; General Training is commonly used for migration, work, training or study below degree level.

The important choice is not which version sounds easier. It is which version the organisation you are applying through actually requires. AFA prepares you for the test itself and does not advise on visa eligibility or admission requirements.

Both versions test Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Listening and Speaking are the same in Academic and General Training, while Reading and Writing differ. The full test is about 2 hours and 45 minutes: Listening about 30 minutes, Reading 60 minutes, Writing 60 minutes and Speaking 11–14 minutes.

Academic Writing Task 1 uses visual information such as graphs or diagrams. General Training Writing Task 1 is a letter.

AFA offers both Champion and Self Prep IELTS options. Champion is live and instructor-led. Self Prep is self-paced, using recorded video, e-books and digital material without live classes.

Both routes use the learning portal for lessons and mock-test access. The five-day trial lets you compare the learning experience before you choose a paid package. Trial access is limited, so treat it as a way to inspect the course rather than as full preparation.

You've already decided what you want the language or test to do for you. The useful decision now is narrower: the right version, level and study format.

Where a course shows Price on request, the figure is not final yet and we would rather say so than guess. Use the course page and five-day trial, then ask a counsellor before paying.
