About this course
IELTS General Training is commonly used where a general English test is required for migration, work, training or study below degree level. It tests Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Listening and Speaking are the same as IELTS Academic; Reading and Writing use General Training tasks.
This course builds familiarity with everyday and workplace reading, letter writing, essay writing, listening and spoken communication. The syllabus uses the public IELTS General Training structure. AFA trains you for the exam; it does not advise you on immigration eligibility or tell you what score a particular route requires.
This is AFA’s Self Prep format. There are no live classes. You work through recorded video, e-books and digital study material at your own pace in the learning portal.

FAQs
Should I take IELTS General Training or IELTS Academic?
Take the version required by the organisation or route you are applying through. General Training and Academic share Listening and Speaking, but their Reading and Writing sections differ. AFA can explain the course difference, but it does not provide visa or admission advice.
What is different in General Training Writing?
Writing Task 1 is a letter rather than the visual-information task used in IELTS Academic. Task 2 is an essay in both versions, though the context and expected register can differ. Your preparation should therefore match the exact IELTS version you plan to sit.
Does this course include live classes?
No. Self Prep is AFA’s self-paced format. You use recorded video, e-books and digital material in the learning portal without live instructor-led classes. If you want live classes for the same IELTS subject, choose the corresponding Champion course.
What can I try before paying?
The five-day free trial lets you select up to five courses and explore lessons, the learning portal, online classes where relevant, mock tests and the training interface. Trial access is limited. Use it to check the course before choosing a paid package.
