Duolingo English Test Preparation

The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test designed to assess academic English across reading, writing, listening and speaking. It is adaptive, meaning question difficulty changes as you respond.

It is designed for at-home online delivery under Duolingo’s current technical and security rules. Those rules can change, so test-readiness details should always be checked on the official Duolingo English Test site.

The test uses a digital adaptive flow rather than four long, separately timed papers. Tasks combine reading, listening, speaking and writing in different ways, followed by production that gives institutions additional samples of your English.

Because the format is adaptive, useful preparation is less about memorising a fixed question order and more about understanding task types, improving English ability and becoming comfortable responding accurately on screen.

AFA lists a live Duolingo English Test course for all levels. It uses instructor-led online classes plus the learning portal for lessons, study material and mock-test practice.

The exact price is not confirmed yet, so we have not published one. You can still use the five-day free trial to inspect the course before deciding whether it fits.

Because the test mixes skills and adapts as you work, preparation should include frequent short responses rather than only long practice papers. Read and listen for meaning, then practise producing clear English without over-rehearsed templates. It also helps to become comfortable speaking to a screen and typing concise responses under time, while following the current official test-day rules exactly.

You've already decided what you want the language or test to do for you. The useful decision now is narrower: the right version, level and study format.

Where a course shows Price on request, the figure is not final yet and we would rather say so than guess. Use the course page and five-day trial, then ask a counsellor before paying.
